Common chord circles

A chord circle is four chords that sound good together in one key, played in a loop: I, vi, ii and V7. A huge number of songs use one. Start with C and G, which use only open chords; the later circles add barre chords.

Strings run from low E on the left to high E on the right. Numbers are fingers: 1 index, 2 middle, 3 ring, 4 pinky. A circle above a string means play it open; × means don't play it. A bar means your index finger presses several strings at once, and a label like "3fr" means the diagram starts at the 3rd fret.

Tune up first: every chord sounds wrong on an out-of-tune guitar.
