Starting Bach's Minuet in G
by Larissa, one of the developers at Bugga Software ·
I'm Larissa, one of the developers at Bugga Software. We make My Pocket Guitar Tuner, and I'm curious what it's like to really practice with it. So I'm running a tiny experiment, and this journal is where I'll share it: what I'm practicing, where I'm learning it, and what I notice along the way.
The piece
My first piece is the Minuet in G, long credited to Bach. I'm learning it from Allen Mathews' free lesson and sheet music at Classical Guitar Shed. If you want to learn it alongside me, start there.
The experiment
My pact: practice the Minuet in G for 15 minutes a day for 4 weeks, and share a short video now and then. When the 4 weeks are up, I'll look back at what I noticed, and decide whether to keep going, change something, or try a different piece.
I'm not aiming for a perfect performance. The wrong notes are part of the data.
Before every practice
I tune up first. Every piece sounds wrong on an out-of-tune guitar, and the tuner takes ten seconds.
I'm tracking my daily practice with TubeStreak.
